How can I stop my Dell laptop from randomly beeping the USB noise?

My Dell laptop beeps randomly every 20 mins or so. The beeping noise the the same beep you hear when you plug/unplug a USB cable. I dont have any USB devices plugged in, so it cant be a loose cord. Anyone have any idea on how to stop this?

Alternatively, is there any way to disable the windows sound of when usb device is plugged unplugged?

ThanksHow can I stop my Dell laptop from randomly beeping the USB noise?Control Panel %26gt; Sound and Audio Device %26gt; Sounds (tab)

In the Program events, find and select:

Device Connect

Device Disconnect

Device failed to Connect

Then one by one, set the sounds to (none).

Press OK and you shall never hear that sound again. How can I stop my Dell laptop from randomly beeping the USB noise?Had the same problem. Fortunately, Firefox was hanging at the same time. Might have been a clue. I disabled some add ons and extensions, specifically the foxit reader and the AVG extension. Haven't heard the sounds since. Weird, but true.
