I have a dell inspiron 1520, it has a 250 gb hd and 3gbs of ram. It runs great when its not plugged into the charger. When it is plugged in it just gets super slow. Ive tried changing the power schemes already, can anyone help?My dell inspiron 1520 runs really slow when in its on the charger, can anyone help?First, on your battery icon, right click / pop-up the context menu. Click Power Options. The Inspiron 15 series have simialr power schemes.

Next, under the category "Select a Power Plan," and at the one you have selected click "Change Plan Settings."

Then, click "Advanced Power Setttings."

Next, expand 'Hard Disk' and expand its subcategory 'Turn Off Hard Disks after.' The parameters should be changed according to how long you use you computer. So, if you use your computer on its battery for one hours, change the setting to 60 minutes. Plugged-in parameter should be set to about 10 minutes longer than what you use your computer plugged in, such as 70 minutes.

Then, go down to 'Processor Power Management,' expand it, and then expand 'Minimum Processor State' and make sure the settings are at 5%. Expand 'Maximum Processor State' and make sure the settings are at 100%.

Finally, go down to 'Multimedia settings' and expand then expand the 'When sharing media' and make sure the values are set as ""ON BATTERY: Allow the Computer to Sleep"" -and- ""Plugged-IN: Prevent Idling to Sleep""

I would encourage you to use the "Balanced" power plan, as opposed to "High Performance"
