My Dell wont start up and all it says when i turn it on is Hard drive not found. How expensive is the hard drive for the Dell inspiron, and can it be fixed instead of replaced?Check the connection on the SATA or IDE port to make sure it is not loose. Check the power connector as well.
You can pretty much use any Hard Drive you want. The only differences is the interface (eIDE or SATA) that it connects to. You will have to do a transfer of the data and reinstall the operating system if you go this route.
Otherwise go see a computer repair person, they can troubleshoot it a bit more by checking bios settings or a messed up MFT and what not.How expensive is the hard drive for the Dell inspiron, and can it be fixed instead of replaced?I would take it to a PC tech to see if there is anything that is preventing the bios from seeing the hard drive. It could a be recent bios setting someone did or a lose data plug.
If this is a hard drive is physically damaged the cost of fixing a hard drive is thousands of dollars to tens of thousands of dollars. In which case it would be better to get a new one. But I would go to a PC tech to see.
