Will a processor removed from a Dell computer work in another computer?

I have a Dell Dimenstion E520. I would like to know if the processor, removed from the motherboard, will work in another computer (Dell or otherwise) - does Dell lock it somehow? The processor is a Dual Core Intel 80551, Pentium D 2.8GHz.Will a processor removed from a Dell computer work in another computer?if it has the same socket. Will a processor removed from a Dell computer work in another computer? It's a yes on that one.

The CPU will work in any Dell or other main board that supports it. Just check to see if the board your installing it into can handle it.

Not all LGA 775 boards can run Pentium D's so look before you leap. Will a processor removed from a Dell computer work in another computer? If the other computer's motherboard has the same processor slot as the first, then it shd work. The new motherbaord shd also support a Pentium D processor. Thats itWill a processor removed from a Dell computer work in another computer?
Make sure the socket is correct and the motherboard can handle it, and you should be fine.
