Why wont the keyboard on my dell laptop work?

I have a Dell Inspiron 15R notebook. The keyboard will work when I start it at first to log on, but once it fully starts and goes to my home page the keyboard stops working. Its obviously not broken or disconnected if the keys will work for me to type my password in. I have checked all the settings and they say that the keyboard is working properly. Help? Why wont the keyboard on my dell laptop work?there's probably some software running when you start up that prevents the keyboard from working like a malware or virus. Try booting into safe mode to see if it still does it. If it works in safe mode that is most likely the issue. Go through the processes in task manager and look up any processes that look suspicious or you dont recognize. Then end that process once you find it and see if it fixes the problem. If it does, find the location of that program in your hard drive and delete it. alternatively run combofix.exe (download online) and if there's something that is not showing itself it should find it for you and obliterate it. You can also try process explorer from sysinternals, unrecognized processes or their handles that are not recognized as being a trustworthy program are highlighted. Why wont the keyboard on my dell laptop work?
Sounds like you could have somehow gotten the wrong drivers installed or a virus. If you have a spare keyboard lying around, plug it into the laptop and go into your Device Manager (in Win7 type Device Manager into the search box on the Start Menu, in Win XP right-click on My Computer - go to Properties - under the Hardware tab is Device Manager).

In the list of devices, look for your keyboard (not the one you just plugged in) and uninstall the drivers. Windows will automatically find it, since it is a generic keyboard, and reinstall the drivers. You might want to reboot your computer.

If this doesn't work, then you should run your Anti-Virus software. If you do not have any, try Avast or AVG for free. They don't cost anything and come highly rated. Why wont the keyboard on my dell laptop work?Since this only happens in web browsers, you are infected by a spyware. Get Ad-aware and scan your computer. Once you got the spyware out, your keyboard should be as good as new. If this problem still occurs, save all your files and get the technicians to fix it for you if you still have warranty. If not, re-install the OS yourself.

But after the spyware got removed, the keyboard should work again. Why wont the keyboard on my dell laptop work?
