How do I reset a Dell Inspiron 630m laptop to factory settings?

I recently acquired a Dell Inspiron 630m laptop from a family member, and wish to reset it to it's factory settings, because it's loaded down with programs and files I don't need. I read that F8 or F11 works, and they both bring me to another page, but there's no option that leads to resetting it to factory settings. Any links, advice, or help would be appreciated. How do I reset a Dell Inspiron 630m laptop to factory settings? When the laptop boots up and you see the Dell screen, you need to press Control and F11 to go to the recovery, not just F11. If that doesn't work, press Ctrl+F11 when you see the screen after the initial Dell logo that says "www.dell.com" at the top.

If that works successfully, do the following:

- In the Dell PC Restore by Symantec window, click Restore. Alternatively, press %26lt;Tab%26gt; to highlight Restore, and then press %26lt;Enter%26gt;.

- When a warning message appears stating that all data will be lost, click Confirm, or press %26lt;Tab%26gt; to highlight Confirm and then press %26lt;Enter%26gt;.

The Progress window will appear. Once the restore process starts, Dell PC Restore by Symantec usually takes about 8 to 10 minutes to finish. When the restore process is complete, the following message will appear: The system recovery process was successful.

If the laptop's boot record has been modified (i.e. if your family member has reinstalled Windows on their own without using Dell's method), this will not work. You can still reinstall Windows if you have the standard Microsoft installation disc for whichever version your laptop has installed (look on the sticker on the bottom). How do I reset a Dell Inspiron 630m laptop to factory settings? You need the restore cd from dell. Give them a call and see if they can send you one.
