Yes, it most defintley is considered.
My husband pays child support and 52% of his take home pay goes to ONE child because the state his child lives in includes all allowances as income. We live on base and never see his BAH, but its still listed on the Les so its considere! It totally sucks!!!!!

Can housing allowances be seen as income for military fathers in child support cases? It depends on the state, but normally probably not, because it's something not every servicemember receives, and the government considers it simply providing housing. If the member lives in government housing they don't receive that allowance, and to add it in to the calculation would nearly double the income level for many people and could be considered unfair if the person isn't actualy receiving that money.** I take that back. Apparently, almost everywhere DOES include it, even if the military member isn't receiving it. So, as illogical as it may seem, someone who has never received BAH and is only receiving $1500 a month in wages, less taxes (so they're probably really only seeing about $1100-$1200 of that) could conceivably be ordered to pay nearly all their wages in child support if they happen to live in an area where their BAH rate if they were married and living in town was about equal to their wages. Way to go, America. Hope that guy doesn't have to buy uniforms. Can housing allowances be seen as income for military fathers in child support cases?
Yes, they do.
Here is the logic: a non military person has a set percentage of income available for child support. That percentage is based on dad's need to feed, clothe, and HOUSE himself or his family. With a military person, the housing allowance reduces his cost to live, therefore it has to be part of the calculation for child support. Can housing allowances be seen as income for military fathers in child support cases? If the housing is a condition of their job, the answer would probably be no. If they are given a "housing allowance" to live on base, this would probably not considered income. Can housing allowances be seen as income for military fathers in child support cases?
I don't believe so. Also, since he is obviously divorced, he most likely won't be getting a housing allowance since he will be back on base.
