Basically, I'm looking for reliable numbers here for a demographic study. How many registered military voters are Republican, Democrat, Independent, etc.? Please provide sources too (I've been looking around the last few days). Thanks! What is the political party makeup of registered military voters?"A poll conducted late last year by the Military Times found that 57 percent of those surveyed consider themselves Republican, while 13 percent identified with the Democrats. Among the officer corps the numbers were different. Nearly 66 percent of officers considered themselves Republican compared with 9 percent Democratic." From an article by MSNBC (hardly a Republican stronghold) on September 15, 2004, prior to the Presidential election. What is the political party makeup of registered military voters?I don't have numbers - but the vast majority of military members are republican - not sure if solely because we like Dubya, or if it's always been that way just cause. What is the political party makeup of registered military voters? When Abraham Lincoln was asked prior to the election of 1864 if the dead Union soldiers could vote, who would vote for? Lincoln thought about it a moment and said, "No, they would not vote for me."
However, the standing Army of Soldiers voted overwhelmingly for Lincoln in 1864.
Soldiers almost always believe in the war they are fighting in, and I understand! I was in the Military during the very beginning of Vietnam, and most of the soldiers then in the military would not have second guessed the leaders, but most teenagers and twenty year old don't question that sort of thing, they have other concerns.
Soldiers do there job, but citizens in general have different sort, and more, responsibilities. What is the political party makeup of registered military voters?
When I was in most of the guys I worked with were Democrat, however if you said you were, or said you were going to vote for a Democrat bad things would happen to you. You had to and were forced to say that you were a Republican. It is kind of sad, but it is the truth.
