How do I find out if a now deceased ancestor was dishonorably discharged from the military?
I am doing genealogy research and reading some diaries my mother kept. She writes about her "Uncle Monroe" who she believed was running from or hiding out from the sheriff or military police when he stayed for a while with her family. Mom was born in 1919 so I'm guessing this would have occurred in the mid to late 1920's.How do I find out if a now deceased ancestor was dishonorably discharged from the military? You will need to look at his military record, which you will probably have to order through the National Archives [NARA] unless you have a regional office in your area. Visit their website to find out: http://www.archives.gov/How do I find out if a now deceased ancestor was dishonorably discharged from the military? Not sure which country you are looking in however Military records are normally at your National Archives and some you can search online....if you happen to be looking in the UK this websites links page will help http://familytimeline.webs.com/apps/link/a>How do I find out if a now deceased ancestor was dishonorably discharged from the military?you might contact the National Archives, I believe the web site is still www.nara.gov
