Although, some branches of the services do encourage future officers to obtain degrees relating to the field they want to pursue, such as an engineering or aerospace-related degree for flight personnel. An infantry officer, on the other hand, can get away with earning any degree he wants because his speciality is not related to any Technical Science or Humanity or Philosophy.

Should you want to join the Marines or the Army, you would first get a degree from college or university, then head to an Officer Selection Officer and sign up through him. He will assess you and then, should you pass your PFT (Physical Fitness Test), you will become an Officer Candidate. You then head to Officer Candidate School and once you graduate, you will head for further training, after which you get to select your future job (MOS).
