What does it take to become a military doctor?

Do military doctors have to go through basic training like everyone else? Are they supposed to have a degree before they apply or will the branch they are going into provide the education for them? How high of a chance will they go overseas or will they stay on base or wherever? Thanks! What does it take to become a military doctor? There are several ways to become a military Doctor. They can get their medical degree or apply for funding that requires them to serve a certain length of time after they finish med school. They must meet the physical standards and requirements of all other officer candidates,Some doctors enter service after working hospitals or private practice. Many are in the reserves and may be called to active duty from time to time.

Their chances of going overseas aare the same as any other service member. They are sent where they are needed. Military doctors receive advanced training for combat duty where they work in tents under severe climate and battle conditions. In addition they can get residencies and fellowships in virtually every medical specialty.

They serve not only the service members but also their dependent families..What does it take to become a military doctor?
Yes - you have to go through boot camp. You will always be a soldier first.

They can either join after or before medical school. It is probably a good idea to have at least a bachelors first.

As for assignments - you go wherever they need you.

You also have to sign a contract that says you will stay with them for a certain amount of time (especially if they pay for some / all of your education).

Peace. What does it take to become a military doctor?Yes you have to go through basic because you will always be a soldier first. talk to your recruiter and they can get it in your contract that is the military pays for your education then you commit to so many years. if and more likely when you're deployed you will be "in the rear w/ the gear" as the saying goes.
Regardless, you have to graduate from an accredited medical school and get a license. You can either do it via a civilian program with ROTC or you can join the service and they send you to their medical school. They get deployed overseas too.

All these questions...if you join the service, any service, you had better plan on spending some time overseas....What does it take to become a military doctor?Yes you have to do basic training.

No you don't have to already be qualified. They will pay for you to go to medical school if you show sufficient aptitude and in return you agree to serve a minimum number of years. You will probably go overseas at some point. What does it take to become a military doctor?
Physicians do not go through "basic training." They come in on the Direct Commissioning Program. They go to a short school that teaches them about military customs and duties.

You have a 100% chance of going overseas.
Yes but not like everyone else. Yes they have very good schools you can go to and its free as long as you join the army for a predermined time. No idea. What does it take to become a military doctor?
