What are thee similarities and differences between a Military Police Officer and a City Police Officer?

In what ways are a Military Police Office and a City Police Officer similar and different? What are thee similarities and differences between a Military Police Officer and a City Police Officer?Similarities- both patrol neighborhoods, hand out speeding tickets, investigate crimes.

Differences- Civilian police are not usually trained on how to escort a convoy or how to react to an ambush. Even when off duty, a civilian cop can still arrest you %26amp; only NCO's %26amp; commisioned officers have that authority in the MP's.

EDIT:

Once you get out of the military %26amp; want to go into civilian law enforcement, you won't have any problems (like one poster stated) 4 of the guys that was in my unit are now Civilian cops. 1 is a Patrolman, 1 is a K9 Handler, 1 is a Detective in the Sherriff's Dept %26amp; the last is a Detective in the City PD's Cyber Crime Unit. And none of them "fail(ed) miserable because the qualifications are entirely different"What are thee similarities and differences between a Military Police Officer and a City Police Officer? They both must carry a weapon most times while on duty, learn how to clearn, shoot, etc and keep physically fit and have a passing standard for qualification.

Differences include jurisdictions, various duties....military doesn't have CSI, detectives, vice, etc.....its mainly broken up as your type of duty....guard, patrol, escort, etc.

Military police in general is your billet...or rather an "assigned job". If you lose your right to carry a weapon..say from a domestic violence charge, you will eventually lose that billet and position because you do not meet the qualifications...where as a civialian, you can be put on leave of absence, get a desk job while investigated or such...but your still a cop. What are thee similarities and differences between a Military Police Officer and a City Police Officer? The only similarity is that they both wear uniforms and carry a sidearm. Many MPs who try out for PDs fail miserable because the qualifications are entirely different; city cops are tested and interviewed extensively before they are accepted into the academy, MPs just have to be big and have a serious persona. Being a city cop is a career while being an MP is an assignment. What are thee similarities and differences between a Military Police Officer and a City Police Officer?
The MPs will exercise restraint and only use reasonable force.
