How can i tell my parents about the military?

I'm 16yr old graduating high school at 17. I am planning of going to the military... well im sorry im going to the marines after high school and have told my parents about it and they seem to be negative about it, of course im the only son.

How can i tell my parents about this?

P.S

My mom is very sentimental. How can i tell my parents about the military?Arrange an evening where your recruiter can come to your home and discuss the Corps and what it means to serve with your parents. Be honest with them, and explain your reasons for wanting to enlist. Seriously, be honest. If you want to enlist because running around with a machine gun in the woods sounds fun (it is, trust me) then tell them that.

My very liberal parents were aghast when I told them I was enlisting in the Army. But they came to see why I was doing this, and that it was the path I was choosing. Good luck. How can i tell my parents about the military?
Did you just state in your sentence that you told them? The way i told my family is i brought negativity to myself. I was like I'm struggling I don't ever see my self completing college without military help. I told them that my body is falling apart. (those two statements above only help if your poor) I also told them Id be learning a new career field gaining strong military discipline. I told them Id get to see the world which i always wanted to do (but really i want to be stateside) You know just tell them all the things that excite you about the military. If they don't understand...who cares. I think you might need a parent consent though at the age of 17. So wing one of them to sign for you. Get them when there half asleep and say sorry mom got to sign this detention. That's what i use to do but i told her it was a field trip, but really it was a dentention. Best of Luck and dont worry. If they say no, you only have to wait a year. How can i tell my parents about the military?I understand that they be concerned about your safety but it isn't really that bad over there; on media despicts all the negativity. And anyone's parents should always have support for their child, regardless if they disagree. If they are to be resentful of any child's decision I call that neglict and direliction of duty in good parenting.

Just ask them for their support, and that it's your decision, not theirs. It is supposed to be honorable thing, not something that gets repercussion as if it's wrong! There is nothing more admirable than serving your Country.
the way i did it was to show the that this was not just another idea of mine. i would workout like every day do push ups situps etc. right infront of them and when they ask about it say getting ready for bootcamp and do your your research and talk to them about the options the corps will open to you like gong to college first and crap like that what would do if i was you was to join the army first for 2 years then i you like the military join the corps the corps has a min elistment of years at least if you join the army and hate the military you only got 2 years as to 4 with the corps the miltary aint for everyoneHow can i tell my parents about the military?Throwing your life away in Bush's War in Iraq is not dying for your country it is dying for the greed of a few of his cronies. You need to ask yourself why are you putting the two people who love you unconditionally through this emotional trauma. After graduation you need to take a couple of years and think about what you want to do with the rest of your life. Do you want to throw it away and waste it now or do you want to live to be an old man, have a family, career, and love and be loved. Choose wisely.

Guess what Mom and Dad, you don't have to worry about paying for my college!!!!!

Or, you can enroll in ROTC on a 4 year college program and go into the United States Marines as a officer.

After you are 18, it does not matter, it is your decision. But at 17, your parents need to sign for you.
Your parents may be skeptical now but if you can survive she'll probably be happy for you.How can i tell my parents about the military?
If you're worried about it, the military is probably not for you.
talk to your dad first tell him this is what you want to do. you want to fight for your countries freedom
