What parts of US Military organization and doctrine was copied or influence by UK military doctrine?Almost all people including the Americans forget that the American army was modelled directly from the British army after the American revolution , Being almost all the revolutionaries were British trained as soldiers . They then used that training to train their own men ., after the revolution the only thing they knew was the British method or organisation . Even their NCO and officer signatures of office are the same plus all there ranks . Example Stripes for NCO's pips for officers , all the ranks are the same corporal Sargent's lieutenants captains majors ETC. Their special forces are modelled directly after ours from WW2 THE THE OSS (SAS) Commandos marines, The Paratrooper were modelled after the German equivalent. They do have a few special forces invented by themselves , But a study of them shows they are almost a carbon copy of British special forces. What parts of US Military organization and doctrine was copied or influence by UK military doctrine?
not alot really, atleast not much that is current. SFOD-D is modeled after the SAS, but you could argue that the SAS is modeled after american partisan militia from the civil war and earlier (mosby and the swamp fox are good examples). ofcourse technology has changed and so has warfare, but the basic principles are the same. i guess body armor originated from medieval knights so you could say it was influenced by europe back then, and you can point out that the first unit to wear body armor was a british cavalry unit during hte english civil war. brits were the first to fully develope a tank, though the idea had been floating around for quite some time before that though.

our terminology is coppied from britain (corporals, sergeants, leiutenants) we dont use the same exact words for ranks but the ssame basic words are there.

as of what is currently out, the british have coppied a lot more of america's technology and tactics than the other way around. nothing wrong with it, the brits are our closest allies and we're the country pumping the most into military spending. not very good when uyou're running into battle with m-4's and your allies are still using muzzle-loaders (bit of an exageration but you get my point)

if you'd like some examples:

armored ships (you could even say that the tank is an exact copy of the Monitor, just with tracks) invented by the north and the south during the american civil war.

landmines: invented during the US civil war

the current style of body armor being used, especially ceramic plates

aircraft carriers

countless aircraft in the british arsenal are american designed and made

the list goes onWhat parts of US Military organization and doctrine was copied or influence by UK military doctrine?Alexander M is inaccurate in just about everything he has written and obviously believes everything he is told about the American Military.

I do not intend to go into detail as some of the answers here have already done so. Wake up to reality young man. What parts of US Military organization and doctrine was copied or influence by UK military doctrine?
