How likely is it for the military to check your medical history?

I want to join the Navy and don't want to lie about my past, depression, but if this was 10 years ago and I have been fine for 9.5 and I lie to get in. Will I be caught in the long run. Again I don't want to lie but has anyone done this and been able to successfully go through the military/navy??How likely is it for the military to check your medical history?Honesty is the best policy. The rules are in place for a reason. For folks like you that have had rough times and turned to suicidal ideations and threats, it is to protect them from themselves in the case that the military life becomes too much for them to handle. How likely is it for the military to check your medical history?
Well first off you should not be joining the military because it is evident that you have a serious issue with the traits of a military leader.

JJDIDTIEBUCKLE

JUSTICE JUDGMENT DEPENDABILITY Initiative Decisiveness Tact INTEGRITY Enthusiasm BEARING Unselfishness COURAGE Knowledge LOYALTY Endurance

By lying to get in to a career field where integrity is not just a trait but a way of life you reveal yourself to be the anti-thesis of a sailor. I would lecture you on this however if you review JJ it should become evident that the military lifestyle is not the one for you.

Secondly, YES THE MILITARY WILL CHECK YOUR MEDICAL RECORDS!!!! The doctors at MEPS for enlisted personnel and DODMERB for officers are there to weed out those who do not qualify due to various reasons. The aforementioned doctors are there to weed said people out so that other personnel will not be at risk due to the candidates inability to hack it mentally or physically

The military is NOT an equal opportunity employer nor can it afford to be.How likely is it for the military to check your medical history? They are easily passing waivers for depression, especially if it was a decade ago and you've proven you can function normally without medication for the time you've been off of it (has to be at least a year).

Be honest, because when/if you have a breakdown and they look through your medical history and discover your prior depression, you will be charged with fraudulent enlistment and discharged, usually dishonorably.
they do a check

but its not a very thorough check it only checks what

is on file and easily to see..records that are expunged

or sealed are not looked at. lots of people have lied to join the military

and even those with depression have gotten in.

if the military finds out i believe its one of the things that will ban

you from all branches as its one thing that i think there are no waivers for.

so if its past seven years its a good chance its sealed or so.

the only way they will find out is if you try to get a job with a top secret clearance. or a high security clearance job. then they will find out.

dont feel to bad about trying to lie to your recruiter no one wants you to join the military more then your recruiter.

he should find a way to work around it or so.How likely is it for the military to check your medical history?I went through the recruiting process 11 years ago, as long as I remember when you go to MEPS they only ask if you had depression or suicidial thoughts in the last year, and as far as medical records go, unless you were "committed" when you over the age 16 you should be alright. But this was a long time ago, so ask your recruiter a lot has changed, they want you to enilist so they will give you a straight answer, it reflects poorly on them if they enlist someone who gets thrown out.How likely is it for the military to check your medical history?
I don't know were all these people are getting there answers but due to the whole privacy act the military (means every branch) can not check your medical history unless you release your files to them so if you say nothing is wrong they can't prove it and believe me they will harass you and scare you into believing that If you lie you will get caught but as long as you keep your mouth shut you should be fine and they run a backround check to see if your a criminal and the fbi backround check is for federal warrants and identity
My brother recently got checked for the navy and they double checked everything they could there hands on. If i were you i would tell them and hope for the best. at the beginning they will give you a long list of things that will keep you from joining, read it and watch out for you past problem. How likely is it for the military to check your medical history?
I am in the U.S. Navy. From what I know and my past recruiters told me they run a full backround check.. FBI does too for police records and things. If it's in your medical documentation they will find out. Just explaint the situation to your local recruiter.
Yea, they do check it. They check out everything basically. My dad is in the Navy and I know a lot! I myself am joining. I have depression and I don't think that it will hurt me at all on getting in.
A friend of mine had a heart surgery the day he was born due to a weak heart and he wasn't allowed in the army. One of the things they do is check medical history as well as many other things.
Since it was so far in the past, you should tell them. It is very likely they wont hold it against you, but if you lie and they find out you will be discharged.
yes they WILL check and they WILL find out. The only reason they dont want anyone that has been diagnosed as depressed no matter how many years it has been is because of incase anything happens in the field that could have been prevented.
If you aren't going to require secret clearance or above just don't tell them. Otherwise forget it.
The Navy doesn't want depressed loners in its ranks. Try Burger King instead.
They check it with a fine tooth comb. Better to talk with your recruiter.
