Can someone in the military marry without parental consent if he鈥檚 17?

My bf and I plan to get married right after he receives his military ID. At that time he鈥檒l be 17. We live in Virginia and plan to get married by justice of the peace. The question is, although he is a minor, will the military ID allow him to marry me without parental consent?

I will be over the age of 18, so most of the confusion is over whether or not his age will be the issue. Can someone in the military marry without parental consent if he鈥檚 17?I think the only "adult" things a military ID will allow a 17-year-old to do are:

1) Join the military

2) be deployed to a foreign land

3) while living in that foreign land it may be locally legal to obtain cigarettes %26amp; alcoholCan someone in the military marry without parental consent if he鈥檚 17?What will waiting a year hurt if you are going to be together forever? WAIT. In my state, while the military makes many different exceptions for folks serving their country, the marriage laws are the same....Can someone in the military marry without parental consent if he鈥檚 17?It looks to me like Virginia requires that you be 18 or have parental consent. With divorce so high at your age why do this Mandy? Don't get married now. Your only asking for problems in your life if you do.
